Terms of Service
Last updated:
The short version
Silhoulid is a free, browser-based tool for turning silhouette artwork into 3D-printable files. Use it for content you have the right to use. We provide it as-is, with no warranty. We can change or discontinue the service at any time.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Silhoulid (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms") and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Silhoulid lets you import bitmap or vector artwork in your browser, edit it into a 3D extrusion with optional text labels and mounts, and export the result as STL, 3MF, OBJ, or GLB files. All processing happens on your own device. The Service does not require an account and does not upload your files to our servers.
3. Licence to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, Silhoulid grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal or commercial 3D-printing projects. This licence does not transfer any ownership of the Service or its underlying code to you. The Service's source code is proprietary; the full licence terms are available on request — message me on MakerWorld.
4. Your content
You retain ownership.Any image, SVG, font, or other content you import ("Input") and any 3D file you export ("Output") remains yours. Because Silhoulid runs in your browser, your Input and Output never reach us, and we claim no rights in either.
You are responsible for the content you use. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you own, or have the necessary licences and permissions to use, every piece of Input you import - including any artwork, fonts, logos, trademarks, or third-party imagery. You are solely responsible for the legality of the Output you produce and for any use you make of it.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual-property right;
- Produce content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or that incites violence or hatred;
- Produce items intended for unlawful use, including weapons or weapon components prohibited by law in your jurisdiction;
- Impersonate a real person or organisation in a manner intended to deceive;
- Probe, scan, attack, or interfere with the Service's infrastructure, or attempt to circumvent any security or rate-limiting measures;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service's source code, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits;
- Resell, sublicense, white-label, or otherwise redistribute the Service or any substantial portion of it.
6. Intellectual property
Silhoulid, including the source code, design, user interface, the "Silhoulid" name, and any associated logos and trade dress, is owned by Silhoulid and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right or licence in any Silhoulid trademark, brand element, or proprietary code beyond the limited licence in Section 3.
The Service uses third-party open-source components, each governed by its own licence. Those licences continue to apply to those components and are not modified by these Terms.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silhoulid disclaims all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement. Silhoulid does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that generated files will be suitable for any particular printer, or that results will meet your expectations.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silhoulid and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages - including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, business interruption, wasted filament or print time, damage to printers or printed parts, or personal injury arising from the use of any Output - even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Silhoulid's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed one hundred euros (EUR 100), or, where local consumer law forbids such a cap, the minimum non-waivable amount permitted by that law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Silhoulid and its operators from and against any claim, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) your Input or Output, (b) your use of the Service, or (c) your breach of these Terms or violation of any third-party right.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time and for any reason, including violation of these Terms, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4–9, 11, and 13) will survive.
11. Changes
We may modify these Terms or the Service from time to time. If a change is material, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, prompt you in the application. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Third-party services
The Service is delivered through third-party hosting and content-delivery providers, and may link to third-party websites or services. Silhoulid is not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of any third-party service. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that service's own terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Silhoulid is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you a different forum.
14. Severability & entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Silhoulid regarding the Service.
